KIRE offers Secure Socket Layer Encryption for all of your important e-mail transactions. In the age we currently live in, it is important to us to ensure all of your e-mail messages are 100% secure and encrypted. Our Incoming Mail Server (POP3) allows SSL connections on port 995. Our Incoming Mail Server (IMAP) allows SSL connections on port 993. Our Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) accepts SSL connections on port 587. Below are instructions on how to configure your e-mail client to securely interact with our mail servers.

How to Configure Thunderbird Email

1. Open Thunderbird, and select "Tools" then select "Account Settings".
2. Click "Add Account" or go to "Tools\ Account Settings"
3. Select the Email account radio button and click Next. The Identity screen appears.
4. Enter your full name in the Your Name field. Enter your full KIRE email address ( in the Email Address field, and click Next.
5. Select POP as the type of incoming server you are using. Enter in the Server field.
6. Set the Outgoing Server to, and click Next.
7. Enter your KIRE username in the Incoming User Name and Outgoing User Name fields, and click Next.
8. Enter a name for the Account click next and then click Finish.
9. Select Server Settings from the folder list below your new account.
10. Update the Port value to 995.
11. In the Security Settings section, select SSL from the Use secure connection options.
12. Select Check for messages at startup and Automatically download new messages
13. Click Outgoing Server (SMTP) in the folder list
14. Select the (Default) entry from the list and click Edit. The SMTP Server page appears.
15. Enter as the Server Name and set the Port to 587.
16. Select Use name and password and enter your KIRE username in the User Name field.
17. Select SSL (TLS) from the Use secure connection radio buttons and click OK.
18. Click OK to save your changes and exit the Account Settings dialog.
19. Now, click "Get Mail" and when prompted, accept our SSL certificate perminently.
